Springfield, Ohio: Why Donald Trump Is Disqualified To Be President

If he’ll lie about this, he’ll lie about anything.

Springfield is a small town (about 58,000) between Dayton and Columbus where there has been a large influx, mostly legal, of Haitian immigrants who have come for the jobs and have rejuvenated the economy. The Haitians have not come to commit “petricide.”

That Mr. Trump and his hysterical running mate J.D. Vance have accused these legal immigrants of absconding with Springfield’s dogs and cats to eat for dinner is ridiculous. Do you really want a President who is ridiculous—again?  Haven’t we had enough of that?

This blog has made it clear that it views Mr. Trump as seriously dangerous. Why?

First, his previous term is very hard to evaluate given the effects of Covid on the world in 2020. Many people make a lot of the fact that the current wars in Ukraine and Gaza did not happen when Trump was in office, but you can’t really know why something didn’t happen. However, the one argument with some credence is that Putin saw the weak withdrawal of America from Afghanistan as a green light to invade Ukraine. But wasn’t it the Trump Administration that drew up the withdrawal deal with the Taliban? Who would cut a deal with a bunch of terrorists? Obviously, Mr. Trump.

As for Israel and Gaza, that was caused by Hamas finding a vulnerability in the Israeli defense system. It would not have mattered who was President of the United States on October 7. It would have happened.

As for the economy, I really don’t see how a President has much of an effect on the economy unless he goes to war. The economy was good under Trump, went to hell with Covid, and recovered under Biden.

My objection to Donald Trump is that he is amoral and an inveterate liar who cannot be trusted with the well-being of Americans because he only cares about the well-being of one American. Himself.

From the moment he took office and lied about the size of the crowds at his inauguration through Stormy Daniels and all the law suits, Donald Trump has shown himself to be nothing short of a mafia Don. His willingness to jeopardize the safety of a large segment of the population of a small Ohio town for his own political purposes is conclusive. He cannot be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office. Even on a tour.

The people of America have a right to be able to respect the office of the presidency by respecting the person in the office. This has not always been the case (Nixon, Bush 43, Biden). But if it’s decision time again, we cannot start another four-year cycle by installing an untrustworthy egomaniac.

Do I think Kamala Harris is a good choice? I do not, but I have no reason yet to question her ethics and morality. I have lots of reasons to question Mr. Trump’s. His lies about Springfield, Ohio are just the latest examples.
