A New Prescription Podcast #6: Exercise: The Cancer Terminator with Clinical Exercise Physiologist Dr. Savannah Raschendorfer

We all know exercise is good for us, but do we know why? Of course, it strengthens our muscles and our hearts, but what else does it do to keep us healthy, reduce inflammation, and even prevent the development of cancer.
This week’s podcast will delve into these precise issues with Dr. Raschendorfer of Baylor University. She has done extensive research on “prehabilitation,” the use of exercise to prevent the adverse effects of cancer treatments and surgical interventions.
She will also go into the use of the GLP-1 drugs we have discussed recently and their combination with exercise to prevent obesity as well as protect the body before and after cancer chemotherapy and surgery. She will also tell us about the benefits of blood flow restriction in training and in increasing strength in cancer patients.
Of course, we cannot leave the topic of the benefits of exercise without touching upon why more doctors don’t prescribe it as part of patient care and why most insurers won’t cover it.
As a bonus, Andrew and I will discuss some of the fast-moving events in healthcare policy and politics occurring in Washington, D.C.
So, join us any time after March 20.
